Some people, although not many, are of the belief that Nadil Malik Hasan was a soldier who just snapped–totally out of the blue, and that his actions had nothing to do with the fact that he is a Muslim at all.
Others still are willing to admit that anyone yelling “Allahu Akbar” while killing innocent civilians is an Islamic terrorist, period.
Reports are coming out however that Hasan made attempts to contact Islamic terrorist organizations. He also gave a presentation that was supposed to be on a medical topic and instead gave a presentation on how Muslims are at odds with the US war against terrorists, what the punishment is for nonbelievers (boiling oil, fire, etc.), and enlightenment regarding what “jihad” is.
What no news story is reporting is that these things–pouring boil on infidels heads, etc.–are straight from the Koran. In fact in Hasan’s power point presentation, he is quoting the Koran directly when he says these things. For example:
A fire has been prepared for the disbelievers, whose fuel is men and stones. 2:24
Those in hell must eat from a tree like molten brass that burns their bellies. Then boiling water will be poured on their heads. 44:43-48
At the end, he insists Islam is not violent and should not be spread “by the sword.” I guess he changed his mind!
Actually I don’t think he changed his mind. I think he was talking out of both ends, as he contradicts himself throughout the presentation. He warns at the end of “adverse effects” if the Army doesn’t let Muslims voluntarily leave the military. And he is quite clear of what adverse effects are, he outlines some that have already happened such as soldiers killing other soldiers, such as Hasan Akbar of the 101st Airborne Division.
And that is what is most frustrating. Muslims always insist they fight only in “defense.” Islam is peaceful and will not initiate force, they say, over and over. But yet they do things like Hasan did. The problem is their defition of “defense” is weak. For instance, if someone makes a cartoon showing Mohammed, this is an act of violence against Islam in their eyes and worthy of violent retaliation, in their eyes–which happened. Same thing with Hasan … I have no doubt he believed he was fighting in “defense.”
The presentation fully admits that Islam not only means “submission” but “surrender”, i.e. surrender to Islam. Hasan fully admits that “jihad” doesn’t just mean “spiritual struggle,” like many Islam apologists says it is, but in fact means holy war against infidels. (slide 5) He quotes sura 9:29 which outlines that Muslims are to fight non-believers until they pay a tax to believers and “are in a state of subjection.” This is the only way that Muslims allow non-Muslims to even live.
The long list of calls for cruelty against infidels in the Koran: http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/cruelty/long.html
Please, read the Koran. You will find there are no ifs, ands, or buts: it is one long battle cry against infidels. Or, you can read my 20 page synopsis of it: Islam on Trial: The Prosecution’s Case. Or, Hasan’s presentation captures the Koran as well. The Koran mostly says, over and over, that believers will be rewarded and non-believers will be punished. Hasan makes that pretty clear in his presentation.
Islam is not a relgion of peace. Hasan was in every way inspired by the hate ideology of Islam.
